Welcome to the forum. I have a 1937 Hillman 80 limousine, lovely cars. There are three models, the Hawk, the Sixteen and then the 80. Not many of these about these days.

Thanks for replying,I know it's a 3l 21hp but very little else.I'm collecting it this morning so will post pictures later,It was Major John Bassett's staff car (Bassetts sweets) He was lost in action so the car was used by his sister's (spinsters) until 1964,and then left parked in the chauffeurs garage.when the last of the sister's passed away it was left to the late John Taylor (who rented the garages by this time) I have bought it from his wife Janet. As said before, any help or info very welcome ,I think the first thing will be new tyres so what brand do people recommend? Thanks again ,Bry.

Sounds like a very interesting history. We dont know the history of ours but are researching it.
Lovely cars, not much around in the terms of spares though.

I know nothing of the hillman hawk but regarding tyres there are several vintage tyre specialists about , as for make? on my Morris 8 Avon tyres out perform any of the cheaper ones, in terms of mileage I have yet to wear any out, in other aspects they give a better ride and steering and much better grip in cornering and stopping.

They are 12v, the battery can be found under the drivers seat. Have you had a good look round the car? What sort of condition is it in?

Just collected car,it's got a few battle scars but I think it's too good to paint, just been given all original documents and service chart so should be running by the end of today fingers crossed, the main thing I've noticed is a broken headlight bracket so need to have a look at repairing that. Will get some pics up soon

There are a few tips here:

I've also used imgur.com before now and that seems to work pretty easily.

Well, still no joy with pics(not good with computers Rolling Eyes )had her running,50psi oil pressure at a high turnover and really smooth, not been outside in it as its lashing it down!.According to the logbook it's a hawk, Janet also had all the brochures ,manuals and workshop service chart so that's good .Will keep trying with pictures so fingers crossed.

Sounds very good, what colour is she? Mine is black with tan leather interior.
Is she a limousine with the division or the Hawk touring saloon?
