Like other contributors (before I joined) I had great fun with a VIP set up which, unlike the more realistic Scalextric track, simply had polished metal.

I can't imagine there are many of these sets left now.

I used to make my own. Anybody remember the clear plastic bodies that you painted on the inside? I've still got my Jaguar XJ6 with metal chassis and Mabuchi-type (can?) motor. Just taken me make 50 years to sitting on top bunk of bunk beds reading my Model Cars magazine. I always planned when I had my own house to set up a circuit, so still got my Plexitrack and extras I've bought from autojumbles and jumble sales. Never got around to it and now seem to spend hobby time on the real thing.
