I have always maintained that at an auction a private buyer can always outbid a dealer.

The problems lie when the private buyer drops out because they are scared of being pushed too high, or there are 2 or more PB's going for the same lot.

I just think its such a shame to then put £10k straight on the price, but like has been pointed out before on the forum, I wonder what it will actually sell for?

I do not really see what the problem is. Everyone was able to buy it the first time, for a relatively low price. Someone did and now tries to make a (big) profit. If there is someone who think the truck is worth that and buys it, then they are both happy.
That said I do not see it selling for that kind of money. That is the risk of the first time buyer.

There is a Triumph Roadster on Ebay now, £3000 or near offer. That same car was sold earlier via Ebay for £455. It was in parts. The buyer assembled the bits and now tries to sell it for a much higher price. Is that a bad thing? I do not think so, someone else might have broken it up for spares, now there is a chance the car will get restored.

In any business the aim is to make a profit, buy cheap sell higher, just remember doubling the purchase price is only a 50% profit take of overheads (transport, rent , storage, advertising, phone bills etc, ) and your probably down to 30% then you have to pay yourself wages and pay the taxman, what is left (if any) is your profit .

You can't blame him because he bought a bargain, although I agree his selling price looks a mite optimistic. I reckon the auction price should have been at least double, cut his asking price by a chunk, and he'd hardly make a profit!
