I'm thinking of buying a classic that was imported from New Zealand, having been exported there in 1939. It was imported in 1992 and then stored in a barn until recently. The certificate of permanent import to the UK is included, also the original certificate of registration.
Would it be reasonably simple for DVLA to issue an age related registration number?
Thanks in advance

If you have the certificate showing that any duties owed at the time of it being imported were paid, assuming there were any to be paid given that it was re-imported back to the UK, I can't see any real problem. You may have to go down the route of getting a dating certificate (although the paperwork you have already could avoid this requirement).

I imagine that a quick call to DVLA would soon clarify the current situation with regard to registering an import, as these things tend to have a habit of changing over time.
