A very interesting article, but I'm afraid I can't see how the styling of the A70 is anywhere related to that of the XK120. They both have spats, but other than that, there's not much in common. One is low and sleek, the other has that overfed chubby look.

I had an Uncle who ran an A70 Hampshire. He was a small time farmer at a time when such Farmers were considered to be fairly well off.
What was funny was the way he used to call out "whoa" when using the brakes. This was what he called out to the cows when they mis behaved on the way to milking.!
I remember he used to take my other Uncle and Aunt in the big Austin to visit family in Norfolk every year.
The A70 replaced an Austin 20 which he offered to my Dad but although he was in awe of the old car,( and I wished he had bought it) the petrol consumption made it impractical. |
