I suppose the marketing folk do their homework so presumably it helps sell cars?
The BMW Mini did at least directly follow the end of production of the "classic" mini and IMHO was a positive nod to the success of its predecessor.
Similar acknowledgement with the Beetle.
The use of Viva makes no scene to me , as 90% of prospective purchasers wont be old enough to remember the original Viva, and those of my age remember them as first car cheap rust buckets (sorry Mike!)

No-one I know in the Viva Owners Club could understand why they resurrected the name for the short-lived Daewoo badge-engineering exercise either.
It seemed that the main reason was so that they could take the mickey out of the Viva HA in the advertising campaign. At least the HA was their own design, and I suspect there will end up more HA Vivas on the road than the most recent one in a few years time. |
