I like your thinking; may I be next in line after Rick? _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

Well, I seem to have been able to take advantage of the current situation....by only using my two oldies for transport since it all kicked off.
However, this month I have taxed one of my so-called dailies, [a Suzuki Grand{?} Vitara, on an 02 plate.....nasty thing, made this century....]
Needed to do some important ferrying of family [AKA, Dad's Taxi]...when the Mustang would not have 'done'....
So, the modernist thing had its first major run out since this time last year...aside from occasional start ups, battery charging, etc....its MoT is due next month, so I thought I'd get a head start.....and I firmly believe faults can only really be found by using the damned thing.
It drives very much like any modern car...does the job, in an adequate fashion...carries all sorts...even has a 4wd option should I be stupid enough to need it? Once Motted, I really would like to flog it....as it is a costly beast to run..not fuel-wise, but VED-wise.
BUT, driving the 'this-century-thing' was a strange affair....being used as I was to oodles of torque, left hand drive, or lively handling and wind in the hair[not forgetting flies, wasps, moths, fag ends, etc...]
The other daily [an oldish 4trak] needs some work [in my opinion, not that of some pimply MoT tester!!]...then it will swap places with the Suzuki object, for the wintertime....when I can reduce the usage of the oldies [which cost nowt but petrol and a bit of insurance]....to those better winter days?
I don't really use my oldies as a social adjunct....but driving them, against a 'modern', make me realise how lucky I am to have savoured the old technologies for real.....rather than as a hobby, or social pastime. _________________ Dellow Mk2, 1951 built, reg 1952.

I’ve found the same tbh.
Singer hadn’t moved since last season and when CV hit, I’ve been flat out since with work, almost overworking due to the amount of redundancies about.
A few weeks back, my dad (87 and shielding with copd) rang me up on a Friday night, he was going out in his Wolseley 6110 the next day. I decided to give my car the once over, start her up and join him.
We’ve had a few good run outs and I’ve fallen for the old girl again, still makes me smile at 50mph tops.
Front seats need repaddin over the winter (any recommendations in the next?) and roll on next season and some normality.
Keep your Jaguar, it’s a great car and you love it really.
