It says the car has had plenty of work done, does the price look good then I wonder?

I am dubious about the "body off....." comments.

It looks like a lot of work to me.

I doubt it will fetch more than 10K on a good day.

It may be because I used to service one of these big beasts when I was a young lad working at a garage in the 1970s that I have a soft spot for the Mk10/420G.

I imagined that owning a big Jag would impress the girls ! (The Austin A30 didn't quite fit the cool guy image Cool )

This looks like a particularly good buy... if you like that sort of thing - but I imagine most OCC folk would sooner eat their own feet.

Having replaced an auto gearbox on one of these and knowing all the associated hassle involved, buying a "barn find" like this is a risk.

Another down side is the driver's seat... which gives about as much support in the corners as a pair of roller skates.

I am still drawn to it however.

Ken Page and I rescued that car back in 2011 but it looks like nothing has happened to it since we sold it. It was missing a few parts when we got it.

When we sold it it looked like this.

and we described it thus:

Good points:
Excellent chassis
Engine starts and sounds good and has excellent oil pressure.
Nice history file including old receipts dating back to 1955
Photos from before the start of restoration.
Original brown registration document
Current V5
Still registered with its original registration number JOD 437
Points requiring attention:
Whilst the body has recently been put in primer to preserve it there are quite a few areas that will require welding.
These include the lower parts of the doors, the spare wheel tray and the inner skin of the spare wheel compartment
door. The sills and rear parts of the wings and rear inner wings have been crudely repaired and these need further
work. The floor boards and front foot well floors sections need to be replaced. The wooden tool tray and cover are
missing.
The interior is the original Bedford cord upholstery but will need full restoration. The rear arm rests are missing.
The dashboard and some of the wooden door cappings will need re-veneered. The full set of instruments is present but some of the switches/knobs are missing. The car will need a new wiring loom (A cord has been passed through the chassis to facilitate installation.)
Most of the brightwork will require re-chroming.
The car has been in storage for a considerable time and the clutch refuses to disengage.

Wowzers that was quite the basket case when you found it, hopefully it'll go on to live again.
