Hi. I have bought a Morris 8 that had no wiring loom. I'm happy enough to do a rewire and have got pretty well everything working with a direct check to the battery. However I now need to connect it charge.

First thing I'm trying to do is establish if the dynamo has an output. Problem I have is determining if the dynamo is is actually putting anything out. I've looked across the internet and now know how to do this but unfortunately the connections on dynamo looks like nothing else I've seen and has no markings

Can anybody advise which is the D and which is the F. I've tried it assuming D to be the one with the wire attached and F to be the other but I get a reading of 0.6v which is not encouraging.[/img]

Dynamo by Paul Hopkin, on Flickr

The terminal nearest the edge should be "F", the inboard one "D".

Chris.

Hi. That's what I suspected and tried. I'll have a go again and see if I can get it to respond. If not its onto the brushes.

Connect the F & D together, without a load the dynamo voltage output should rise to 30v or higher.
