The first image was taken on Trent Street Nottingham looking north. You can just make out the script above the shop on the right 'Atkeys Motors' who eventually was a main BMC dealer in Nottingham, and surrounding areas.

That's interesting; I've just acquired a box-full of Austin Magazines which came from Atkeys (they were situated on Church Street, Lenton, in the 1960s)

Indeed, visited there many times. There is still one former Atkeys building situated in Uttoxeter.

The chap in the driver's seat worked for Vulcan, the lorry manufacturer, and the location is Southport beach. But what is the car?

Probably a Vulcan, then!

Most Vulcans from around 1910 were fitted with worm-drive, and this was standardised across the range in 1912; the picture looks as though the drive to the rear axle is above the line of the half-shafts. I would date the car as 1912-14, so it all seems to fit.

I did wonder about Vulcan Smile but couldn't find any photos of something similar.
