I am writing a biography of a German chemist, and I am trying to find information about a German car that he is listed as owning in the 1932 edition of Dietzlers Auto-Adressbuch für Gross-Berlin.

He had two number plates listed, one for a Ford, and the other was for a Kühn.

The name Kühn is listed with 100+ other manufacturers, some well-known like Sunbeam, and others I have never heard of:

I have searched online for Kühn in connection with cars, and all I can find is agricultural machinery made by Kuhn (note not with an umlaut), and a car from the 1980s. I was hoping that one of the forums members made have some information, and hopefully photographs, of Kühn cars.

Thank You

Initially Kuhn built bodies primarily for Opel. In 1927 a Kuhn car was introduced based on an Opel. Later versions used 6 cylinder Opel engines. Production of cars ceased in 1929

Kuhn -

Otto Kuhn, Halle (Saale)

Kuhn built bodies particularly for Opel, and introduced his own model in 1927. It was derived from the 4/16PS Opel and had a lengthened wheelbase. A subsequent model used the 6 cylinder 8/40PS Opel engine, Opel gearbox and rear axle, while the chassis and body were of Kuhn's own design.

Taken exactly from my copy of "THE COMPLETE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MOTORCARS 1885 TO THE PRESENT" Edited by G.N.Georgano (Edbury Press, London 3rd edition 1985)

No photos I'm afraid. Hope this helps

Keith

Its weird being the same age as old people.
You are either part of the problem or part of the solution

If you search for and go to the Coachbuild.com website, there is a forum page for Otto Kühn, with many photos of Kühn-built Opel-based cars. (Specifically at: H**ps://www.coachbuild.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=599&t=8926 )

You could try contacting the Technical museum at Speyer.
They have an amazing collection of European built cars and information.
