Fitted a new repro drivers seat diaphragm. I feel I've arm wrestled a bear, an amount tension is required and it took me 8 out of 12 wire loops before I worked out a knack using 6" Vise grips. I couldn't find my brake spring hook anywhere so had to do it the hard way. The repro one feels twice as thick and heavier than the original.

Replaced a cracked seat runner and refitted the seat in the Triumph 2000, now I don't sink into it and it slides properly.

Started the Traction up and moved it onto the drive to get something down from the garage roof, and then decided that since it was sunny and the roads were dry, that a tootle around the neighbourhood would be beneficial.
It was, the car ran well and I enjoyed it very much!

Having a problem of the car wanting to turn right a bit - and it was OK one day and not the next - it looks as if a ball joint has to be changed. So I took the wheel off and was horrified to see the spline was virtually worn away. so I checked all four wheels, and now need four new hubs, but for the life of me I can't understand just why this has happened. The front near side was changed only six years and 15,000 miles ago. Incidentally, the cost of these seems to differ greatly from one supplier to another. From £84 to £132 and they probably all come from the same maker. Bearings are another thing though. Cheap ones are available at £10, but Timken ones (as supplied to Jaguar) are £60 but I know which ones I trust.

Check with your local motor factors for a cross-reference from the bearing number. The twin-row taper bearings were used on E-types, Rover 2000s & VW buses - probably at three different prices!

Yes, and I have now got the rear kit down to £50. Barratts want £132 a hub excluding delivery and Robey £510 the four including delivery. In the end I have ordered four hubs from Orson for £470 including delivery. The best price I have for the rear bearing kit rear is £47. Do you remember that booklet that practical Classics did some years back? It compared prices and makes. One that stuck in my brain was Porsche 924 front pads. they were from a VW van and were £40 a wheel cheaper!

Post Christmas our emphasis has been on preparing the Chevy C10 truck for sale.

Just a few hours exposure on the 'bay' and the new owner was found!
A kindred spirit where old vehicles are concerned, he's going to use it to promote his business.

Just a few days ago it left up the M4 for a new home.

Lots of enquiries, despite the travel restrictions but after ten years with us, it is time for input from a new pair of hands. Now, with the fleet reduced we will concentrate on the F350. At the start of lockdown we had the recon engine back in the refurbed engine bay. A good starting point for when things ease up.

Hi
I'm having to start and run the 20yr old daily, every day, just to keep the battery charged.
I could take it out and charge it indoors but then I would have to climb through from the rear hatch to reopen the bonnet in order to refit it. (For some reason the key won't unlock the driver's door when there is no power.)
I can't drive it at the moment because i have had an RVO in my left eye.
Hopefully, as it is kept on the street, I won't get an over keen PC asking me to do an eyesight check because without both spectacle lenses combining my current monocular vision is marginal.

I'm not sure what an RVO is, but if it's like cataract surgery, I had a plain lens in one side of my glasses until the other eye was done.

Hi
RVO is a Retinal Vein Occlusion, it's affecting the blood vessels around the optic nerve at the back of the eye rather than the lens.
I have, currently, a very limited far left side peripheral vision from that left eye.
Really, light and shade with a slight registering of colour.

Cut off some of the rear quarter panel, ready to start trimming the replacement to go on it. It's been a bit too cold to do anything on it for most of this week so it was nice to get back on it.

The weather is starting to warm up, or realistically to say that we are no longer at -7C but positive, so:-

Donning the warm clothing, bonnet and gloves I went for a little spin. The roads are clear, and it was exhilarating.

I can imagine that would clear a lot of cobwebs
