I don't know the market for these, but I suppose it's the one to have (3dr, albeit not a 500), and that stack of paperwork is nice to see.

The price of 80's classics has gone mental:

Just over 20 years ago I was offered a Lotus Sunbeam, very original, with an MOT but well used and a bit tatty..... price was £950.
These days you would pay £10k+ for a non runner!...£25k for something half decent..

I think the Mini ia the most surprising. People were scrapping better examples than are now being restored. That is something you would expect to find with much rarer cars I would have thought.

There was a very tatty one on Bangers and Cash and it went for about £40,000 I seem to recall. And far worse than this one. The RS was a limited edition.

I'm so glad I have a low opinion of Fords, it allows me to spend much less cash on much nicer cars Cool

My old boss bought one of the very first of those Cosworth Sierras when they came out. The rear spoiler was attached with 6 or 8 pop rivets (Ughh!)
He came out from his house one morning and someone had come along with a cordless drill and had it away. Which improved its appearance considerably.IMHO.

I would have said: don't go by the price on eBay - until I realised this one had sold... and THAT'S the proof. It's worth what someone is willing to pay.
I have to laugh sometimes at the prices and descriptions of cars on eBay, especially one which the seller claims is 'best in the country' or 'only one left on UK roads'... but at least this one seems to have reached a good price.
