Hi
I have found them over the years on G Earth by following the approach paths for runways.
It is easier if you can rotate the view to make the runway r to l on your screen because a gentle nudge with the mouse will then just track the view in a straight line.
The orientation control seems to have disappeared from my version of G Earth.
If you pick up one on the approach you will often also see it's shadow on the ground.
The higher altitude aircraft are often discovered because people spot the vapour trails.
