Interesting, was £24k for the Mk1 RS2000 a good buy for someone?

Sorry folks, being a 'child-of-the-times,' I just can't get my head around why folk today think any Escort is of such value? To me they were bread n butter, common-or-garden family motorcars, which could be messed around with, and rotted I cannot see the attraction? They were not even 'nice' to sit in. [Says someone who once owned an Escort banger, which turned out to be an early [F plate reg] 1300GT, into which someone had fitted an 1100 engine, so it was gutless [wrong carb, wrong gearing] and probably on its third or fourth set of strut tops..}

Certainly no longer an 'enthusiasts'' car these days...unless one happens to live in the West Country, and does a lot of trialling in one?

Fords like this have such a huge following now, but with the prices the way they are they aren't for the usual classic enthusiast.

I guess it's horses for courses. The RS range was always popular and, when current, probably out of the range of the youngsters who would have loved one back then. Now they are older and better off they want a RS2000.

Personally, I would prefer the RS1600 but it's not about me.

Out of the two; the MGA looks like the one I would prefer to own. Wink
