Red, especially old red can be a challenge to match, normally requires some fading in to get perfect.

We took our big Hillman down to Watchet in Somerset on Sunday for a 1940s weekend. Its about an 80 mile round trip and the car did really well, that part of Somerset is beautiful but its all hills and long ones at that, very few stretches of road to let cars pass so I have to pull in after each long climb on the way home to let people by.

Not my car but helped a friend with his MG TF. Bled the rear brakes o.k. but the flexible hoses had collapsed on the front. New hoses should fix the problem.

Looks good including colour match.

It was my youngests 10th Birthday yesterday, so as a surprise we got permission to park the old Hillman on the forecourt of the local village garage close by to school.

I had a half day from work so I could pick him up but the look on his face when we started walking home and passed the garage was brilliant!! All his mates were gobsmacked when we got in and drove home!!

Can your boy reach the pedals yet? I bet he can.

He can reach the pedals...and at a local show on land belonging to our friend he has had a sneaky drive around the field. He even gets the idea of double d gear changes!

He is always so proud of the car, out of all the vehicles we have owned he just really took to this one from the start.

When I was that age my Dad gave me a tatty old BSA Bantam to restore. I learned a lot from that project.

Just a suggestion.

Thank you. It's actually entirely the wrong colour being Mazda Classic Red, but it matches the old Rover Targa Red the Maestro sports surprisingly well.

I don't think he would need much persuading to work on his own little project!!

I took advantage of a break in the weather to change the middle silencer on the P38. The job was simple enough but the silencer is a heavy lump and it took all my strength to hold it up.

One advantage of the air suspension on Range Rovers is you can put it in "high" which gives plenty of room to work underneath without the need for ramps. Very Happy

I hope you're sticking something like an axle stand under the car when you do that. Airbag failure is a known issue on P38s and, like Citroens of a certain age, will happily squish the unwary spanner twirler given half a chance.

No. Never worried about getting under the Range Rover with it's wheels on.

Not working on the lorry today but doing something for it.

The Commer is outside and is sheeted but today been assembling a frame that will take a metal sectional roof that I am having made at work. Hopefully that will be finished for me to assemble next week and that will mean we are ready for more rain and winter weather ahead.
