Over the last couple of days we've had a pair of Chinooks and two close formation Hercules fly over, while this morning I head a Beech 3NM Expeditor rumble nearby (based on the Beech 1Cool.

Car-wise we saw a Bond Bug driving through torrential rain the other day, and an Interceptor parked outside a local garage.

Silver one? I think that's the one we drove past yesterday morning. Mk1 Escort in the workshop as well.

I am located over t'uther side of country to you, Rick..and we've had a Herc or twain thudding overhead, close enough to see the pilots' nostril hairs.
Also, pairs [sometimes threes] of those Osprey things playing around in close formation...not very useful for us locals if at night? They are rather noisy and thuddish!
I believe they play around a very local milly-terry training area [an old airfield] for a bit of touch n go stuff?

Just seen the Red Arrows, 2 Vics of 5, over Belmont and Egerton on route from Astley Hall Chorley (Speakers G7 Conference) back to Scampton.
They started using smoke as they crossed the vicinity of Bury.

Ahh.... they went over Nantwich around midday (ish!) , heading in a north westerly direction.

Dave: they went out to sea over N Wales and then turned in-bound past Southport to Chorley apparently their route beyond Bury & Heywood was past Holmfirth. I would estimate they were around 2000 ft, or maybe 3000 as they went past me.

Out in the 164 this evening I saw a brown MGB and a tidy faded green Mk2 Consul outside a local pub, plus a Pagoda SL driving along nearby (driver didn't respond to a wave).

That is true. Ironic, really - when one considers how our hobby is such a good leveller.

I have a wealthy customer who drives vintage Rolls Royces but he also likes Austin Sevens. Pity they are not all as broad minded.

Very few post war cars wave and I generally wave to any pre-war ones.

Out in our 37 Hillman a couple weeks back and we passed an MG outing coming the other way. It was around 6-7 cars with all older drivers and the cars were imaculate, my boy who is keen was waving to all of them and he didnt get a single wave back!!

But then we got closer to home and passed a ropey looking Morris Minor and the young lad gave a wave and a thumbs up!!

I sometimes wonder if I did the right thing getting an MG. There seems to be a superiority complex among some owners of older MGs. You are, it seems, only likely to be recognised if you have another 'square rigger' MG.

All said and done, they are all just old cars.

I find the Austin Seven forum to be frequented by individuals who look down on anything that's not a Seven. They especially have harsh words about the 1928-1934 Minor and its M.G. off-spring, yet nothing nasty towards the Seven emanates from either the MMM M.G. forum or the two forums for the pre-war Minor. I love the Seven as much as anyone, but any thought of pootling down to Morton-in-Marsh next July to enjoy the week-long celebration of the little car's 100th has been rudely extinguished by more than a few individuals who have voiced their opinions that nobody will be welcomed if they don't arrive in a Seven. Very sad.

We enjoy and look out for all classics and any type of vintage vehicle, we come across so much snobbery in our hobby its just not worth being like that yourself.

I can tell you one thing though, my boy even at 10 has an opinion about owners of certain marques of cars and kids like him are the future of this hobby!
