Has anyone been following Anst building a special?

I was particularly interested in seeing him make a glass fibre body.

I expect there will be some criticism about him cutting up an MG TD chassis and sacrificing an Alfa sports car for the running gear.

I've found it more interesting than I thought I would, some interesting techniques shown etc. The fake exhaust manifolding though does nothing much for me, I understand why it's there to look the part, but it's a bit like fake Ferraris being plastered with prancing horse badges to me, trying a little too hard.

I watched the closing half of the series, it was reasonable and he's less annoying than some other presenters. Faint praise, I know.

Apart from the fake exhaust manifolding I think a point which seems to have escaped the critics - and also something that made me wince - was that the exhaust exits from the wrong side!

Critics may argue over the rights and wrongs but surely the point about it is the sheer amount of pleasure this special has given. If it can be such fun to drive then it has surely achieved its main objective.?

Having said that he has sold it for $100,000.

If anyone is inspired to build their own Alfetta 158/159 I found this kit...

i did notice the exhaust was the wrong side!
but the build looked good and done well
though he was very enthusiastic about it why has he now sold it so quick, unless we have a very old program on freeview?
i wonder how much it cost?

It was an unusual programme in that there was no mention of cost. I expect he broke even.

I believe it was quite an old programme, from other things that were going on in it. Looking on IMDB it seems it was 2019, so not all that old really.

Well I think since the programme was made he split with his missus, and is now to be seen on the arm of Renee Zellweger, a Hollywood type I hear Smile

Yes, those were the "other things" I was talking about, I was being subtle. Haven't read any of the juicy bits. Smile
