The Jaguar Enthusiast’s Club of Devon held its Great West Jaguar & Classic Car Day in the historic grounds of Torre Abbey, Torquay on Sunday 5th September 2021.

The Club, formed in 1984, is the largest Jaguar Owners Club in the world and comprises 90 national and international regions. The Devon Region was founded in 1989 and with around 100 members, has one of the largest regional membership’s and holds numerous event’s throughout the year.

This is a special year for one classic model – the E-Type Jag is celebrating its 60th Anniversary, and to mark the milestone, there were 12 E-Types on display covering the evolution of the model from 1961 through to 1975. The E-Type when it was unveiled in 1962 was described by Enzo Ferrari as the most beautiful car in the world....praise indeed....and he was not wrong! A total of 106 Jaguar’s and other classic cars, including Panther’s that use Jaguar mechanical components, made for an impressive sight. The organiser’s had to operate on a reduced number of cars on display because of Covid restrictions.

It was not only about historic cars – local dealership Matford Jaguar were showing off the latest models including a glimpse into the future with the very high tech all electric cars.

At the end of the show, awards were presented for the 3 Best in Class Jaguars, and also an award for the Best in Show non Jaguar.

If you are interested in finding out more about the Club, please visit their excellent web site www.jec.org.uk/regions/devon for all the latest news. They hold a regular monthly meeting in Exeter, and quoting Chairman Patch Jobson “everyone is welcome to join our very friendly club – all you need is a passion for the marque – you don’t even have to own a Jaguar!”

A selection of my photo's from this event are available to view on the Need For Speed Facebook page:
