Hi all Smile

its been a long time since i was here.

Health - work - fake flu (c19) etc etc took time from me.

Anyway = back to business -- I bought another car.

I saved it from being sold as parts 5 years ago.

The owner had bought it 18 years ago (in Sweden) and taken it to Denmark.

He wanted to get it fixed up for MOT, and use it.

The mechanic that was suppose to help him, said it was junk, so he put it in a garage, and locked the door.

18 years later he lost the right to use the garage, and put the car up for sale, as spares on fb -- all the Voltures soon jumped on him to get parts from it.
but I saw more than those tossers = a hole in the dashboard above the lighter & fan switch, and one more in the steering wheel schroud.
This coupled with the fact that it had twin SU,s made me ask for a picture of the tag plate.
Sure enough she was a genuine 12235 = 122 Sport (B18D) with factory fitted overdrive by Laycock de Normanville, and not only that = she was a early one too = October 1961. Registred with her first owner in November that same year.

The car was completely rustfree, and the brakes wasnt rusted solid, so I made him a offer to get the car fixed, and MOT,ed.

After it got plates on he lost interest again, and left the car on a public road (unlocked) for 2 years - he then called me, and said he wanted to sell the car, because some guy wanted it, and use it as dayli driver untill its MOT expired.
I then jumped in, and bought the poor old car.
Only had to suck some fuel up through the pump, and she fired up.

Soon after I got her the fauchi flu hit us, and I started fixing things on her, this lead me to removing the rear axle, as one of the trailing arms were wrong + various other faults.

Then I got ill (blood cloths in the brain - frozen shoulder etc) so she was left sitting on the lift
Mean while I searched for some of the missing parts = upholstry - seat frames - floor mats -
nicer bumper parts - overdrive - wheels - hub caps - wheel trim - all badges - air intake - wings - etc etc

More to follow. Smile

Thanks Rick, yes she is nice, and the price was OK.

I am restoring her on a budget - using used parts to see how cheap I can make it ?

She wont be painted now, rear axle is back, and the M41 might go in, in the weekend.
Already restored the loom, and fitted switch & light for it.

No worries - that one was on me = forgot it wasnt a Volvo only forum Wink

M41 is a 4 speed gear box, with a overdrive fitted.

The normal 4 speed is a M40.

If its factory fitted the type code ends with a 5, as on this car.

No worries Ray, I dont know the model number on my Mini,s -

only know that the 61, has some kind of strange fly wheel, that were phased out, soon after it was built.

and dont ask me about any other car Laughing
