Hi all,

As noted in my MGB V8 thread, I moved to the USA in 2016 so sold the project. I still missed British metal so finally last year I got my hands on a Ford Anglia 106e Estate!

Long story, but my dad bought the car from France in about 2014 as a barn find (rust free from the south of France) with the intent of restoring it one day. Suffice to say that didn't come to fruition and he decided down downsize his collection, hence the adverts currently in the 'for sale' forum. He asked if I wanted to Anglia given it was LHD and I jumped at the chance!

It was a lot easier, and a lot cheaper to get it running and ship it via a RORO ferry than put it in a container. So the process began early last year to get it running. How it started:

After new brakes, tyres, hoses, service items and fuel tank, we got to this:

It was duly delivered to Southampton docks in October 2021:

Leaving Soton:

As delivered in Baltimore USA!

Got it loaded up in a trailer ready for the 10 hour drive home:

(New) home at last!

It arrived in early November last year so I didnt have much time to drive it before the weather set in. Getting it registered was my biggest concern but turned out to be simple and cost only $116

First job over the winter was to take the rear axle out and replace the suspension bushes. I used the time to clean and paint everything up too. Some before and afters:

I also had to replace a leaking front crank seal and rocker cover seal.

This year so far I have mainly been enjoying the car, but my brother cam to visit and he is a bodywork whizz so we started work on that:

So far, I know of only 4 other estates in the whole US, so it certainly attracts attention! I promise I will post updates more regularly going forward.

Good to be back!
