Now this is a rarity and in my opinion quite a pretty little prewar car.

I agree, a handsome motorcar indeed.
I wonder how difficult it would be to source a pre-select gearbox that would suit??

I should think people in the Riley club would have knowledge of the pre-select gearbox.
I think this needs saving. Must be very rare indeed.

I like the look of them. I recall seeing one many many years back and they have a lovely sporty looking body.

Ended with a single bid. I do actually think that was a decent price for a car that rare and the work required.

Can't say I have ever seen one before. I like the way the vendor calls it a "great winter project". I wonder how many years it will take to restore.??

Could someone tell me what the two 180 degree sprockets are for?

Window winder mechanisms, perhaps?

This is what it could look like:

https://www.classicandsportscar.ltd.uk/crossley-regis-six/classic-cars-sold/31357

In the under bonnet photos the strange looking parts can be seen. The sprockets engage with each other and are part of the arrangement. Confused

There are quite a number of wires that go into it.

What could it be?

A bit like busses. You wait for ages for one and two come long together.

Auction today!

I think the sprockets connect to the lighting switch and I assume the dip function. All controlled from knobs on the steering wheel manette.

The same system was used in the SS1.

So, is the round conical thing with all the wires going into it an electric motor?

I think it's just a switch covered by a "round conical thing". Why would it be a motor?
