Yep, the Connie's are pretty cool!
Boeing B-17's are my favorite birds especially when they have Studebaker power! |

The B-17 is my favourite as well. The more I read about that bomber, the more I like it.
Stuchamp: Have you read the story about the B-17 ''Buffalo Gal'' That was one with Studebaker power?
One thing I am certain of though, the guys who flew them were BRAVE! |

I heard an old piston-engined aero rumbling away, looked up, and in the clear blue sky an all-over aluminium finish Constellation flew over. Turned out it was on a ferry flight into Europe, heading cross country, away from the main airways. I was extremely chuffed to spot it fly over

I was just looking at the Buffalo Gal site. very interesting.
I just bought a book called "B-17 Combat Missions" by Martin Bowman.
It's full of stories of the crews who flew them from the pilots to the tail-gunners. They were a special breed of men back then! |

It's hard to choose just one aircraft as my favourite but I think perhaps the Messerschmitt 262... has any aircraft ever looked so menacing and purposeful?
Add to that the technical innovation, it must have appeared in the skies like a UFO 500+ mph and the looks of a shark, yeh, that's the one... the shark of the skies! |

Speaking of sharks, the Tempests & Typhoons had that kind of look about them with that 'mouth' intake beneath the prop, but my favourite was the Kittyhawk...Or the P-51 Mustang....Or the Spitty...Or the... _________________ Don't run your fingers over my truck & I won't run my truck over your fingers!

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the aliens who designed the spacecraft in Ridley Scott's film "Alien" were influenced by the tail design of the Constellation?

A couple more Constellation pictures. This one was General MacArthur's personal transport. The other exhibits are located at the same museum.
The engine is one from Hughes' Spruce Goose.
