G'day all well there has been a change of plans to the project.
My rider mower decided to destroy itself half way through the mowing.with still of half a acre to finish.
I've fixed it now to the tune of $1300.
Out with the briggs & stratton and on with the Honda.13hp
There wasnt a real big bang but as you can see it was effective.

Crying or Very sad

Regards Ian

G'day All
No its not very old about 4 years, what annoys me is that the old rider was about 15 when I bought it used only sump oil to top it up worked for 8 years and still going strong when I upgraded.
This one regular serviced, briggs oil well looked after, thems the breaks.
I think it was the con rod that let go for some reason .
you think that those bits are a mess you should see the two holes in the crank case. All I had to trade in was a good head , spark plug and ignition system, and they didnt want them anyway.
Ian Surprised

when i worked for John Deere managing a landscaping machine service facility we had many failed Briggs units. Fortunately Briggs was very cooperative regarding warranty issues but units had to have scrupulous records. that particular failure is endemic of the old style engine and you've done well to go Honda OHV.
this in no way implies that i feel JD is a poor machine; i regard them highly!
