Having a struggle trying to identify this motorcycle used in the filming of 'The Blue Max' - i've ruled out Triumph model H, Clyno, Douglas and Phelon & Moore, i'm currently thinking BSA or Enfield? BSA's seemed to have a thick black ring several inches away from the tire inbetween the spokes though

Cheers, Rob

Good thinking - looking at photos of slightly post-WW1 ones (can't find any WWI era ones yet), looks like that might be it! I'll e-mail the webmaster of the Ariel club website to confirm

G'day all
I take it this movie is about WW1.....this bike is a 20's model with a front brake drum....I suggest Norton although the skirt on the front mudguard is a little different for them.
Not the first time a film production company has made a slip up with bike selection.
The "thick black ring" is what is known as a "dummy rim brake" on the BSA.
Howard.
