Hi,
My 67 mk 3 midget sometimes jumps out of second gear when backing of the throttle although the sincro is ok , any ideas what is wrong . Is there anything I can do without removing gearbox.

Hi Eddie
It will probably be a worn synchro,2nd gear gets a bit of pounding because of engine braking .

Hi eddie,a couple of points----the usual problem with second gear on these boxes stem from either the detent springs on the synchro hub becoming weak---or even fracture, which allows the outer hub assembly to retain drive or dissengage on overun----this normally bevels the second gear inner teeth and the hub does`nt sit as normal. removal of the gearbox is the only option i`m afraid.
