If any of you read french
en aucun cas, la douille ne doit etre realesee, ce qui detruirait sa permeabilite. ne pas non plus la percer

the original wasnt drilled and I sacrificed it to check it was porous and found it very brittle, I put a drop of oil on it and it permeated through overnight

Once into place should I put a tiny hole in?

2 comments here:
1: I am sure that it is totally wrong, but like you Greeney, I find sockets very useful for this type of job. A 1/2" drive one will permit a substantial piece of threaded rod through it and thence a simple but effective puller is achieved!
2: Old lucas dynamos used sintered bronze bushes in the tail end with a lubricator - which was essentially a tube with a spring loaded piece of cotton wadding or similar, which the consciencious owner was encouraged to reload with Vaseline (petroleum Jelly) from time to time. this was at right angles to the axis of the bush, and no hole was employed. I am sure oil would permeate more quickly.

Job done, I warmed the casting in an oven gently and put bush in freezer
Using the old impeller shaft I drew it in with the nut, sweet as a nut, a little resistance but nothing too bad
All painted in the correct green too
just cant decide whether to run a little hole in it Cool

No hole - I would fill tube with engine oil and see how long it takes to soak away. If too quickly use thicker oil and then light grease (not HMP bearing grease Shocked )
