Hello lads! just signed on, as I'm on the hunt for bits for my 1950 Thames 5cwt Delivery (aka: Fordson, but called Thames in N.A.)
I am in western Canada, province of Alberta, but went all the way to interior of B.C. (British Columbia) to get the lil beastie:)
The one I picked up is a rough field find (or in this case, barnyard:)
The shell is not bad, small amount of rust in A pillars, but not a lick of paint on it:) The worst thing is some previously seperated shell from chassis, but left the two sheetmetal reinforcing plates that go transverly across chassis attached to the chassis, leaving the shell much like Gumby.
The front sheetmetal is one of the redeeming features, as it is rust free, with only a small amount of damage around the holes for the bumper irons in the fenders. The two-hole grille shell has some damage, I think it's repairable, but would prefer to find a better example.
Front doors are not great, and no sign of the glass....
Rear cargo doors are M.I.A.???....and I expect these to be the most difficult item to find, as it seems many times they took a beating, or simply parted ways with the shell, due to their hinged being attached to the wood structure that reinforces the opening of the shell.
Fold-out windshield frame is M.I.A., but I have a line on another in B.C., just need to wait for spring so the fellow can dig it out of his shed:)
It is saveable, if one is not afraid of the work, but if the oppurtunity to purchase a better example came along, I would probably take it:)
