One of the fun thing with a lot of these cars is the dual carbs. Sometimes it is said that you can balance them off the car, but with most that does not consider linkage differences.
I remember synching the SU carbs on my Bugeye by ear, something that was a challenge to get perfect.
This is the little gauge I put together to sync the carbs on my Corvair. Just connecting the hoses to the vacuum ports on each carbs and adjusting until the water level stays exactly the same in each. Note that the dual hoses eliminate the possibility of water getting sucked into the engine as the total amount of water in both bottles does not take the level to the top hose where it would get sucked in.

Looks as if you've sacrificed your homebrew kit!

Why not use a foot length tube and get the 'hiss' to the same noise level. It's just as good.

I used my ear back in the old days, and I used it first on the Corvair. But either my hearing is defective or water level is much better at telling the difference.

Ten minutes to fabricate the "tool" with used materials and I was ready for perfection.
