Wonderful set of photos - that's just how UK scrapyards were 40 years ago.
And don't apologise for the colour, I think it suits the subject very well |

Great pic's, I don't think there is anywhere like this left in the UK, maybe small private lots, but all the big boys have to adhere to strict regulations, so it's a thing of the past unfortuneatly. Better than a week at Disneyland. |

The four door A35 in picture 30 looks really solid and rust free. If that was in the UK it would be restored straight away.
Great pictures, thanks! _________________ Richard Hughes |

Fantastic pictures. Could spend days wandering around a place like that. Used to enjoy nothing more than a trip to the scrappy. I don't know if it was the camera settings, but the cars looked "differently rusty" to what I would expect to see here. Maybe the climate? There seemed to be masses of lichen growing on some of the glass. |

to be honest most of the metalwork seemed pretty sound and lots of good chrome and mazek(?) fittings i stood on some cars and there were few really frilly bits it just seemed like surface rust
there are about 10 acres of it all told along with sheds and garages full of fittings/engines/axles etc
the place is about 4 hours drive from auckland or 5 hours from me
i just happened past it as i was offon a weeks snowboarding/team building and decided to go and take some pics as i wasn't very good on the snow!
there was another yard about an hour closer to me but didn't have time to visit, though i will probably take a drive down round xmas |
