I suppose there is no way that this is fitted with that rare electro/magnetic transmission thing that Rootes played with ?
Seemed a good idea at the time from what I remember, was intended to provide an auto-transmission that had less drag on the engine so more power/efficiency. |

Smiths Industries made the Ferlec type but Rootes used Manumatic a vacuum hydraulic servo operated standard clutch which operated automatically when you put your hand on the coloum gerachange to change gear - it was only on 1950's Minxes not big cars like a Humber and was just an automatic clutch with the standard 4 speed gerabox Small Fords sed a similar Newtondrive.
None of them worked well _________________ Rover P2

here are some pics of the trans, it is dirty as well as in the car so some views might not be that good
left hand rear view
another left hand rear view
looking up from the left hand side roughly where the filler tube is
right hand rear view
another right hand rear view
looking down on to the filler tube
hope someone can help identify this trans for me any ideas where the id plate could be hidden? i cant see any flat spots where a plate might be attached |

Hey Solid,
You're gonna need a miner's licence before you start to clean that slosh box!

ha! no the inside is quite good for an ex farm runabout, actually its good enough you would be able to compare it with a daily driver. i'll get some more pics up soon of inside and body. its just the mechanical side thats hurting me at the moment, plus some rust but i can still drive it with rust |

I meant inside the autobox!
It does look more like a DG than a BW35. _________________ Rover P2

ah now i get ya no inside is quite ok going by the colour of the fluid leaking out
if the pic you put up is the DG then they dont look all that similar. if you see the first pic i put up you'll see the ram at the bottom is different to your pic as well as mine doesnt seem to have as much bolt ons on the side as yours. |
