I have loads of these, some new, mainly Lucas and some new spares, (don't have any of the German ones for VW's). I do occasionally refurbish them and stick them on eBay for my beer money!
I also have the Lucas master catalogues from 1930 to 1960 so can advise what your car was originally fitted with.
If anyone needs some get in touch.
Cheers Dave

Might need a tall 12v one in the separate unit to go outside of a commercial. I have 2 6v ones which I'll use on the Dodge if I stick with 6v, but if I go to 12v, I might need one off you (I think I have a single 12v one already)

No problem, most of the Lucas trafficators were made in both 6v & 12v , I have plenty of both, the mechanisms are generally not a problem, some of the earlier arms can be hard to find tho.
Are yours like the SE62 or SE100? , the SE100's have the SF80 trafficator in them, the SF80 trafficator is the moggy minor unit, as such you can still get new replacement arms for these for about £4 !!

Hi Dave, looks like the SE62 to me but I'd have to double check. I also have some externally mounted units for small pickups, but those I have for the Dodge are larger. Like I say I've got 2x 6v units, and 1x 12v - maybe I just need a set of 12v innards which could be put inside one of the 6v cases if I go down the 12v electrics route????

I had a fiddle with the semaphores on the Devon p/up today, but they're a bit shonky. Do you still have any trafficators to suit? I can get the numbers off them if needs be? I have one NOS mechanism, and a couple of new arms, so can possibly build 1 new unit up, but if you have any others I'd be interested to find out more I could also do with one housing that sits inside the vehicle, into which the trafficator is positioned, as one of mine has been cobbled together and is a bit shot

Hi Rick
Just looked up the A40 pick up in my Lucas catalogue; the early ones had Lucas SF34 trafficators and the later ones SF80, Lucas also specified SF80's as replacements when they ceased making the SF34 units. I have both, but would recommend you use the later ones as repro plastic arms are still available for less than a fiver! you will break one some day!
Also to be correct you should have a black finish rather than chrome on the arm covers, black was specified for nearly all "commercials".
Have got loads of the inner brackets, which often got hacked about when people fitted different units over the years.
Probably best to come round and have a rummage!
These are the brackets;

Hi Dave
I've just joined the forum. I run (or try to) a 1934 MG ND Magnette. I am looking for some original trafficators which I am told are the ones with the wider channel on the arm for the light bulb. It looks from you pictorial guide that the ones I want are the SF36. Could you confirm this and give some indication of availabilty and price?
Thanks

I have a 1960 TR3A (LHD), a 1968 Morris Mini Van, RHD and a 1949 Triumph Mayflower. My TR3A took me 7 years to restore, the mini came in pretty good condition, just some simple interior and cosmetic stuff. The Mayflower needs a full restoration although it is complete with no rust. Not sure if one can attach pictures to this list, but if you want to see my website about my cars, here is the link.

Hi
Your mini van looks great, and your other cars look as if you do a very thourogh job restoring them, the mayflower will follow suit?
Cheers

Hi Dave,
I just picked up a battered, but working (albeit sluggishly) pair of SF-8 (not SF-80) trafficators, minus the lenses, chrome lens holders and escutcheon plates. I see from your pictures that you have everything *but* the SF-8 shown. Would you know if the SF-8 parts are similar/identical to the SF-80 series?
Thanks and best regards,
Bob |
