I am asking this on behalf of a colleague of mine who has a 1931 Austin 7. He has just fitted a new crown wheel and pinion (along with three new bearings in the torque tube), but on reassembly the gears are overmeshed. So simply:

"How do you adjust the meshing of the crown wheel into the pinion on an Austin 7?"

Cheers,
Dave

Nobody? Does no one have a workshop manual for a 7?

Is your friend anywhere near Manchester? I have Doug Woodrow's Austin 7 manual but it is a bit too large to copy easily. He is welcome to have a browse but I wouldn't like to lend it out - too much of my stuff has gone that way and not returned. As you can see it's turned me into a miserable old bugger.

Hi Dave,

Not sure what vintage of 7 this refers to but might be relevant..

If he's just looking for general rear axle advice then he might get something from an article I wrote some years ago.
