I found this web site after a Google search for "Paramount" produced no results, so I tried a broader search. I lived in Middle Barton, Oxon from 1972 to 1975 while in the U. S. Air Force. With an interest in old cars, I bought a driveable, original Paramount motor car. I think the registration number was SXM-069. It was faded red, black top and green leather interior. Before returning to the USA, I sold the Paramount and bought a 1937 M.G. TA from Malcolm Elder. I still have the TA and it is garaged next to my restored 1932 Chevrolet Five Passenger Coupe in Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA. I'm very happy to be aboard. |

I'll find some pictures of the TA and hopefully the Paramount and post them later. |

I'd be interested in seeing pictures of the Paramount, too. I'm trying to imagine the color scheme of red, black and green going together. _________________ first car |

The Paramount's color scheme was not at all attractive, but might have been original. The car was functional, had its MOT certificate and had never been restored or, apparently, been resprayed. A divorce in about 1978 caused me to loose most of my photos. I'm still looking. |

The white car in unknown to me, but it is certainly beautiful. If you follow the "Wikipedia" link to "Paramount cars" and then the "Cartype.com" link you will see where you can see a brochure. That pictures what I had.

Unfortunately Paramount for the usual reasons (cost availability etc) used the Ford side valve 1172cc engine and box so performance did not meet expectation. I have a faint memory some had the larger Consul engine but no doubt someone else will recall.
There was one on the road here (Newport Salop) in the early sixties I saw it once or twice in my long forgotten youth! _________________ Jonathan Butler

Welcome to the forum
There was a green Paramount restored by a reader in Practical Classics about 10 years ago, does anyone remember the article? It was a different model to the one pictured above, and had MK1 Consul running gear. They are so rare this could be the one once owned by Sam _________________ Richard Hughes |

I'm sure mine had the Ford side-valve engine. I am pretty sure its registration number was SXM-069. |

Just joined the forum so this is my first post. I know it's an older thread but I think the Paramount is now owned by my father. He bought it in the early 70's, registration is SXM 269. Some before and after restoration pics:

At first glance I thought that your "before" picture was of the Paramount that I had owned, but then I noticed above that I had said that mine had registration number SXM 069. Maybe I didn't remember correctly. Did your car have a green leather interior when you got it? If so, it must be the same car that I sold in about June, 1975 to a US Air Force sargeant at RAF Upper Heyford, Oxon.
I'm still looking for pictures of mine. |

Registration definitely wouldn't have been SXM 069 - there were never '0's at the start of the group of numbers. _________________ Richard Hughes |

She did have green leather interior originally so could be the same car. She's temporarily off the road at the moment for an engine rebuild and some bits and bobs but should be up and running again soon.
