Can anybody out there help me identify this 'box'. It's on my old fairgriound ride but isn't an original fittting.
It has an input shaft which inside is a worm drive which mates with a phosphur bronze bevelled cog, this transfers the drive at a ratio of about 7 : 1 through 90 degrees.
The only casting marks are 'MORRIS COMM'. I guess it is from a Morris Commercial of some sort maybe even ex-military. I can't see it being an axle diff due to there only being one out put flange. Maybe it was from a winch?
I've contacted the Morris Commercial club twice but they were reluctant to help as I wasn't a member.
Any thoughts or ideas welcome! Thanks.
