I've had a rather weird experience with footman James insurance, it's happened twice now and I gave up with them after that, it happens like this:

STEP 1.

I have a classic car to insure and I fill in the form on their website for a quote and am inexplicably quoted very high.

STEP 2.

Due to the ridiculous amount quoted I ring Carole Nash and am quoted a great deal less than Footman James, relieved I accept the quote and pay the fee.

STEP 3.

Usually (in my experience) two days or so after having taken out the insurance with Carole Nash I receive a phone call from Footman James informing me that they had misquoted me and the actual figure was less than I have just paid!

This does two things, firstly it p**ses me off somewhat, and secondly it makes me suspicious as to why the high internet quote in the first place?
Is this pure coincidence or has anyone else been subject to this delayed phone-call routine?

Yours in Paranoia,
Nail

Hi

I was subjected to a cock up from an insurer, I was tring to convert my insurance off a ford fiesta to my estate, the day I was going to pick the estate up. I rang, the insurance to ask about this and was told they don't insure clubman estates! As I was due to collect the car in a matter of hours I had to start a new policy with a different insurer, only to find for some unknown reason my orriginal insurer would not transfer my 1 years no claims. (I know 1 year no claims is not much but it was going to half my premium) I think this was because I was going to a different company and they were losing my business.

Anyway, a few days later they ring back to say I am sorry mr riley we have found we can insure clubman estates, just we were looking under the wrong manufacturer, (BL instead of Austin!) but it was too late, lost 1 years no claims!!

Cheers

Dave
