We are having a lot of trouble trying to get the front brakes on the 1934 Morgan Super Sport's to balance up and I think there are several problems with the shoes (oval holes at pivot, different friction material on one shoe and grooves in the pivot)..then one of the adjusting pegs snapped off.
Most of the brake items fitted are from a Morris 8 so I need to find out if these shoes are also Morris 8 ?..I can weld the peg back on and add weld to the holes and pivot but i need to find a new set of linings..or even better a new set of shoes.
Any ideas?

I found a great article on the web from "Morris 8 Bob" which included that all important picture to confirm these and the system we have is indeed Morris 8 derived. I managed to make a new adjusting pin, build up the weld on the pivot and one brake shoe...then run out of welding wire Rolling Eyes As i have welding wire on order i will leave it as it is for the moment but would still like to find a new set of linings.
HERE is the article...very interesting reading as it mentioned a few issues we have come across already.

The shoes are identical in design to those fitted to my 34 wolseley which are also associated with Morris. I cannot tell from the photographs if these are for 8" or 10" drums (the Wolseley is the latter) It is possible to reline them yourself or use one of the many people that specialise in this. I managed to get a set of ex ww2 wd linings at Beaulieu this year fairly easily.
It is the best feeling to drive knowing your brakes WILL work !

Forgot to mention Peter Scott posted the following in another thread
"This guy will reline your old shoes.

For what it's worth on the basis of one set I would recommend him:

That's exactly the same..apart from the nut on the r/h shoe to the right of the wheel cylinder...ours has the hole but there is nothing connected and no nut like yours has..what's it for?
