Some more info from Adrian who asked the question in the first place:

------------------

I've just checked the responses - so many - great.

Please pass on my thanks to everyone.

Here are the dimensions:

Offset: 59.85 - I guess this equates to 60 mm

PCD: 78 mm across adjacent studs which equates (after Pythagoras) to
a tad over 110mm - so it looks like this is 110 mm.

Diam: 13"

Width: 5.5"

I have followed up the various suggestions made:

1100/1300 & Regal - as far as I can make out from the pics I've
looked at these have 8 slots not 9.

The Maxi has 9 slots and the right tyre size, 155x13 and rim width
5.5", which leaves the offset and PCD up for confirmation.
Hopefully, the all in one drum and hub casting will help confirm.

Rick,

I have checked in my Dunlop Wheel catalogue and the Allegro and Maxi wheel info is as follows:

Rim width 4.50C (measured where the tyre sits on the wheel, not the total width across the flanges)

Rim Profile SL

Centre hole bore 69.85 mm

PCD 114.3 mm

Bolt Holes 13.46 mm

Inset ((not called offset, measured from the mounting face to the centre of the rim) 57.9 mm

Weight 6.3 kg

Dunlop part No. LP 1148A (this is stamped on the wheel on the outside of the rim.

Sorry but the catalogue does not give details of the number of slots.

So it could be from these cars.

I hope that this helps.

Thanks for the info from the Dunlop Catalogue.

I'll double check my measurements tomorrow, providing we are not snowed in too deeply, and advise whether the problem is cracked.

It does look as though we are homing in - great and thanks again for all the feedback - much appreciated.

Hi again

Thanks to RotaryBri for putting me straight about how to measure rim width.
They are 4.5s.

I have rechecked the pcd with some engineer's dividers and yes it is 114mm that we are looking at.

So it seems we have a positive ID.

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to this.

From another source, I found that Princess/Wedge wheels will also fit on a Maxi hub but at 14" tend to rub the bodywork a bit.

This means there are 3 possible hubs fitted to this trailer. I have found a site: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php? which gives the dimensions of the hubs so when I feel brave enough to get outside again and measure up I'll know just where I am.

Thanks again everyone and a Happy Holiday to All - I guess we can close this thread now.

Hi Everyone

Just before Christmas 2010 Members helped me identify the wheel in my original post as coming from a Maxi or Allegro.

Since then, I have found that these are rarer than hens teeth.

Yesterday, I solved the problem by finding a wheel which fitted in my local scrap yard.

As wheels for the Maxi/Allegro seem to be difficult to come by, I thought it might be helpful to let Members know of better possible alternatives than the Princess/Ambassador wheels which are 14" and can foul.

The wheel I found which is a goodish fit I think came from a Hyundai Pony - the pitch is spot on and CB and Offset are very close.
The other alternative though not tested is a Daewoo Matiz also very close on CB and Offset with PCD spot on.
Interestingly, many Japanese cars were designed in Imperial Units and a PCD of 4.5"/114.3mm is very common.
Whilst the MGB, MGA, TRs and other older British wheels also have the same PCD, diameters and offsets vary greatly, examples are becoming increasingly rare so Japanese options look good for an interim fix whilst searching for proper wheels.
Thanks again for your help.
