i am about to choose some wire wheels for my 1928 praga alfa and would like to hear from anyone that can help with the following;
many cars are seen restored from this period and have black or body colour spoked wheels. when did siler/grey wheels start to appear?
i bought my car with none standard (vw transporter!!) wheels and as my car was originally available with steel disc or wire wheels i want to go for wires but also to be sure that the colour i choose is period. i would prefer silver/grey but have never seen any cars from pre 1930 with such a colour.

From what I've seen, cars of that period had body coloured wheels (and brake drums). SS had a slight variation where they had chromed the outside edge of the rim about an inch wide. (I like that effect).

Typically body colour or chassis colour if that's different and contrasting or black. Darker grey would work as well but as you say probably not silver. I don't think there is a hard and fast rule just use common sense.
