I bet this model has a reg. no. on it, which you could compare to your car's original number..?

I've got one of those in my collection of model Saabs, the registration is PAT 7. Smile Can you tell if the car has been converted back to standard from Safrai Rally spec, if that is possible that should prove it one way or the other. I've looked throgh my Saab books, but can't find a picture of it, so I don't know if it carried that number for the Safari, but Trofeu have made a model of it (TRO 1509) so that might be woth following up.

While on the subject of Saabs, a little while ago I found on a friend's webite the painting of the 96L V4 that I used to own:

Click onto 'Steam Engines, Cars and Canals' and there it is; the original hangs on my lounge wall Very Happy

I have a subscription to practical classics (john-saab seen your pics wondered if it was you ) and my other half brings home stuff she knows I'll like from her work . Not as much choice now as there was at the start of the 90's .

It mentions the '62 Safari here, she was competing in a light blue Sport model according to this site:

Thats strange because according to all the SAAB books i have Pat won the Rally in a totally standard car that hadnt been rally prepared...Eric won her the place in the rally and SAAB shipped over a standard car (she wanted a RHD car and there wasnt one avaliable), it arrived the day before the rally and she didnt have time to do a great deal to the car....most thoughts are that the car was either white or grey..again i am waiting for Pat to tell me what she thinks.
My cars registration when in Nairobi was KHD 902..it was given 412 CAM when it arrived in the UK.

Bought a copy of Classics for the first time in years, and noticed that they appear to have copied one of my Standard 10 pics to use in their mag! So much for copyright, nice to be asked isn't it..

Did send the editor an email this morning before going out, not had a reply as yet

Its not a big deal (people often ask to reproduce bits from the site, and its usually ok if they mention the site as the source), but I'm sure they'd contact me if I ripped a pic from their mag to use on my site somewhere

The other half regually buys Custom Car magazine and when he sees it Kustoms Illustrated. Most months we get Practical and again when I can find it Classic Car Weekly.

If any of the other magazines look interesting, then we'll buy them.

Giggles - maybe you could contribute to the new thread on Hot Topic above…. Wink

The Classics editor did reply in the end, and promised a plug for the site in the April (I think) mag, along with a pic of either the Standard or current black Devon
