No, sorry, it'd be interesting to see some photos and find out a bit more regarding yours if you get a chance??

By all means post updates on this thread as things progress, it'd be interesting to follow the build.

A thread at the top of the forum gives a few pointers with ref to photos, see:
http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/forum/phpbb/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2454

There are other photos services around, but in essence they work in similar ways.

Gooday JazzyJack,
I did a full restoration, at home in 1973-1975 on a 1953 Mk I Sunbeam Alpine Special. That was the one built similar to the works cars with a twin choke Solex carby, overdrive, and other tweeks.

The car that you have, by the tail lights fitted, appears to be a Sunbeam Alpine Mk III. The motor was slightly revised on the Mk I with regard mainly to porting in the cylinder head.

I always felt that the styling was superior to all other British Sports Cars of the era, including the Jaguar XK 120, the Triumph TR Series, and others.

One valuable contact I had when restoring my alpine was, a chap called Graham Brooks. He used to be at 19 williams street, Leyton, London UK: I believe he now resides at Sparham in Norfolk UK. Telephone number is listed as 01362 688371.

Not sure if he is still around, or even alive, as I have not communicated with him in 30 years. If he is still around, he is hive of knowledge on the 1953 -1955 Sunbeam Alpine. Like me, he owned and drove one daily.

Speedy Spares @ Shoreham Rd, Brighton UK are a good source of, new, old stock spares; they are the evolution of the old R.J Grimes Company , and have a lot of stock

Good luck with your car. It is one worth restoring with all the care that went into the original.

Ian.

Not sure if it's exactly the same model, but there's one of these starring in Antiques Road Trip this week, if you can catch the last one tonight - 5:15 pm, BBC 2.
