To add to my Rootes collection I picked this up last week.
A Hillman Minx series 111C 1963.
A very solid car and original,2 previous owners from new.
Nothing very exciting about that you may ask.!!!

Until you lift the bonnet.......
Holbay Sunbeam Rapier engine and overdrive gearbox (120bhp).
Uprated braking system.
Bake servo.
Electronic ignition.
Oil cooler.
Electronic fuel pump.
Stainless exhaust system.
Other usefull items.

Sounds good and by golly it goes good.!!!

Looking for a nice Singer Gazelle now.

are you snapping up all the Rootesmobiles Gresham? i fancy a '65/'66 Super Minx if i could find one at the right price.

I think they are great cars...Rootes,far better built than Fords.

I need a Singer Gazelle now...sold mine to my brother in law earlier this year,a 1964 model.
I need a replacement Singer Gazelle now to join the others.

I have just sold my Hillman Super Minx Convertible..superb condition.

Nice minx, my father in law had the previous model to yours but sadly scrapped it in the 90s or I would probably have taken it on board too together with the hunter!!!
Never knew you had a super minx convertible!!
A car I would like to have, since I've been lusting for a classic convertible which is not that common for years!!!!
Can I ask you how much it went for? (Feel free to say no if it bothers you)

I have seen convertibles for sale around the 3,500.00 mark on Ebay,but they were not as good as this one.
Better quality ones are £4,500.00-£5,000 +.
I valued ours at the top end.

I would like a Sunbeam Rapier Convertible next.

Anyone know of one.?

The Hillman Minx drives very good,that extra power turns it into a different car...no more a slug bus...now I can flow with any modern traffic.

Nice Shropshire (AW) reg on that 111C as well - probably better built than Fords I'll go with but remember Rootes stuff rotted the rear spring hangers in a very few years in period.

Thanks gresham, I have seen a couple of rapiers convertible here and they are lovely!!
That super minx you had reminded me I had seen one very similar on sale on a website, advertised as a family owned car from new and from memory was in the region of 3000 sterlings or thereabout!!
At the time couldnt afford to buy it considering I'd have to import it here as well!!!

The Hillman Minx is totally original,even the sills are original.

They can still be found out there--well stored cars etc.
.
Most vehicles suffered from corrosion in some way or other in the past,funnily enough a lot of corroded vehicles I look at has been caused from storage issues.
I always look out for good original cars that have been kept in draughty old barns or similar,they have been kept dry and humid free,not like some I see in damp,wet and sweaty old buildings,that have accelerated the rusting of the car,and done the mechanicals no good at all.
