I recently send a selection of whitworth tools to Australia.Taking to the customer he told me that he uses a pre war biplane for crop spraying.Apparently the slow flying speed and ease of control makes it ideal and according to him better than any modern replacement.
I was suprised to here his plane is not alone and there are others employed on the same work in Ausralia and New Zealand.
I also heard that there are a number of old planes being restored in these two countries and there is an active interest in these relics of the aircraft industry. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |
