On Sunday, erindoors and I went to Curborough to watch this VSCC event. Held on a windswept former airfield site, with no funfair rides and radio roadshows to ruin the effect, its perhaps the closest I've been to the atmosphere of an immediately-postwar motor race. Chilly wind, and the smell of Castrol R mixing it with the smell of a bacon sandwich - perfect Smile Static shows are fine, but I do like seeing cars run & drive, if only driven around a parade ring, but being given some proper welly like here is really entertaining!

There were some fantastic cars around the place, both competing and just parked up here and there. The VSCC believe in exercising their elderly motorcars, so no sign of polish, just plenty of oily rags and the occasional handlebar moustache Smile

Must try and get to some more VSCC events, I think there is a hillclimb in June not too far from here, so will pencil that in I think!!!!

Wow, very nice - can't wait till the VSCC race at Mallory Park (about ten minutes drive from my house) on 12th August, also hoping to make it to the VSCC hill climb at Shelsley Walsh (Worcestershire) on 1st July. Did you get any other photos? Would love to see them

Rick, you have any more shots of the open wheel racers?
That Chrome looking #95 looks interesting as do the others. Smile

Oddly enough, was flicking through the 2005 programme for the VSCC race at Mallory - there's a photo of 32 (it's down as 32 in the listing, there's also a photo of it, even though it looks like 39 as well). Turns out it's a 1908 Panhard-Levassor Grand Prix with a 12831 cc engine, owned by Tom Walker. Nice!

For some reason the only Frazer Nash I photo'd was one parked in the carpark, so I've included those pics below, along with some more open wheelers...

Should be fun! VSCC Oulton Park isnt too far off I think, and in June there's the Loton Park hillclimb which I've not been to before, so plenty more opportunities for snapping historic racing machinery Cool

There's some more photos on the Frazer Nash car club site here

http://www.frazernash.co.uk/photoalbums/album.asp?pageID=502

Forgot to mention earlier, I love the headlamp frame filling in as an umbrella holder on the FN Rick photo'd - wonder if it was driven there like that!
