Hi, Took my Springs off the chassis last night to find oval hangers on the chassis. Has anyone succesfully repaired these. I had the idea of cutting the riverts on the chassis and taking it to an engineering works and having new ones made and then bolt them back to the chassis. Has anyone maybe got other ideas or success stories to share?
Regards

Hi

Yep thats pretty much what you have to do, there is a slight angle in them make sure this is correct. Some folk have had them cast in small volumes, others had the originals bushed. All refit with a nut and bold.

We used to do that on BMC trucks but we used to ream the holes out so that the bolts were a good tight fit otherwise they used to work loose in service.

I had all four springs reset and tempered by Brost Forge in London late last year.

Excellent service. Lovely bloke.

£380 for four. Like new. They have all the measurements etc. for Morris 8 springs.
