Joe, you may be interested to learn that Paul's Mercury Monterey sailed through it's MOT test this morning with flying colours & no advisers.
I got to drive it for 15 miles, too!

Thats so cool! But does that mean to say he was driving it the other Sunday with no MoT? Laughing

All we need to do now is to get him to join this forum!

No.

His current certificate wouldn't have run out until the end of the month, but he's just had the brakes done & needed to find out if there was any more work to do.

I must say, it's such a joy to drive. You wouldn't have thought that a 50 year old car that heavy could still feel so light without power steering.

Thats one of the things that I like about US cars. They are so light to drive considering their weight.

An update on this project.

Just now, I'm not in a very good mood. Parts needed to do the next job on it were split into 3 parcels (due to postal weight restrictions) and shipped from the US. Why does this make me annoyed? Because two of them have managed to get lost between the Swedish customs and my house...what happened to Postal Service?

I don't know about your postal service, but ours is now run by the Dutch!

Having said that, I managed to sell those chrome bullet sidelights I had for sale on another forum to a guy in Edinburgh & he received them the next day.

Can't all be bad...

I'm not quite sure who runs our Postal Service. Must be turnips! Laughing

Normally, I dont use the normal post for just this reason. So far this year, I've been forced to use them 5 times. No less than 3 parcels have got lost....

Thank heavens for Bax....

Finally, the parcels have arrived. They were personally delivered by a Post Office employee this morning. These are the contents, so now, I think everyone should be able to guess what my next job on this car will be!

A new hi-fi system, eh, Joe?

I've never seen one like that before. Those speakers look mental! Laughing

This is what I've been doing this morning, the pre-assembly of the front disc conversion. All of the used parts are now reconditioned, and thanks to doing this I now have an exact idea of what parts are still missing.

Heres an update on this project.

An altercation with an illegal speed bump has meant that I have not been able to drive it for a while. So I have been collecting/fabricating parts until its fixed again. So there are now several boxes of parts waiting to be fitted.

In two of these are all of the parts needed for the front disc upgrade. I did realise when pre-assembling that I needed a few brake line fittings, and so on. Curious little fact here is that the caliper pistons are of a larger diameter than the pistons in an 850 Mini engine.... Shocked

In another are a complete set of pulleys, as well as all the parts I need to convert the steering pump from a Federal Thomson TRW to a Saginaw.

The fuel tank that I made is currently awaiting the arrival of a new sender unit, as well as some vent fittings that I didnt have when fabricating. These vents are now also needed due to the fact that I am fitting a Vapour Separator to the fuel line, and one is needed for the return line.

The final box is empty, apart from the finned valve covers I bought a while ago. Soon to be joining those are some more cosmetic parts.

The nice thing about this car though, is the fact that apart from the wheels and tank, almost every single part is a Mopar Original. Which just shows what can be done to a car without aftermarket parts...

It will probably not be before next year that I will be able to use her again, as I know that I must pull the engine, and strip it to do some internal repairs. The speed bump crushed the sump, and oil pick up. Being of the Hemi type, the latter is welded in place, which might mean at the very least repairs to the block.
