As far as im aware Pete Waterman is alive and kicking and organising a show with some, or all of the singers who's careers he has been involved with. |

Perhaps if he had learnt to Moonwalk instead of preserving a wealth of historic artifacts for a new generation his death would have been banner headlines.

Do you mean PW as in the pop music fella involved with steam? I can't say I've seen anything anywhere if that's the case

I did mean that Pete Waterman.
I picked it up on the internet, including a tribute to his life.
I do so hope I am wrong! I cannot find the item now.

Some nice pictures from the SGLR there Penman. Pity i was not there when you called in. You seem to have got the usual welcome anyway, and a ride. Our hairy company chairman, Martin Smith was driving, and the loco, not wearing it's nameplate is Lady Margorie, soon to be renamed Peter in memory of Peter Sellers, our late society chairman.
We are all enthusiasts, and try to just make anyone's visit enjoyable. It's quite frequent we will change the loco, if someone says they want to ride behind a certain one, and it's not on duty. You won't get that everywhere.
Jim, regarding Pete Waterman, i am sure he is ok, but one of Scotsman's previous owners Tony Marchington, died suddenly of a brain tumour, last December. Perhaps the story became confused? |

He lives around the corner from me. I've had nothing via the jungle drums on this so I suspect he's alive and kicking!

That is the sort of place I would like to visit. Looks exceptionally well organised, and some beautiful restoration work. Thanks for the pics, Rick. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

It was actually Alan Pegler, who rescued and at one time owned the Flying Scotsman (hence the references) who died on March 18th. He did receive some full obituaries though eg

Hope that has cleared up any confusion.

Thanks for the pictures Rick,
The Severn Valley Railway has long been on my "maybe" list. You have just promoted it to the "must" list.

We've done quite a few of the preserved railways, and this was right at the top for us.

How would you rate this against The North Yorks Railway Rick?
I am quite familiar with that and always thought it excellent. But your pictures give an impression of much more attention to atmosphere and better presentation of loco's and rolling stock.
