Hi all,
I am renewing the fuel line between pump and carb on the Hillman as the old one is too short and not very well routed around the engine bay and looks all wrong.
First problem to get over.
The existing old brass elbow looks like a particularly fine thread and it is unequal but I don't know what size it is.
To give me a start point I bought a 1/4 BSP fitting from a well know vintage car parts supplier. The thread on one end of the elbow is dimensionally the same as the new one but the thread is finer - 1/4 BSP fine? The other end that screws into the pump is smaller, possibly 1/8 but also a very fine thread.
I've got several old AC pumps and they all seem to have this fine thread in the two fuel holes. Anyone got any ideas as to what this fitting is and where I can get something to fit it?
Many thanks

But 1/4 BSF major diameter is 0.25" and 1/4 BSP major diameter is 0.518" They are visibly quite different. What I have is the same major diameter as 1/4 BSP but a much finer thread.

If it's for an AC fuelpump then it will be 1/8 pipe thread. The fittings are usually tapered too.

Would it be possible to use the old ends? I presume you still have them.

I am about to silver solder some to my BSA Four wheeler as someone decided to cut the copper pipe in two.

Not sure why.

Regards kels.

I could but they are pretty worn. It just seems odd that it is so hard to find fittings for one of the most common fuel pumps?
