over the last 5 months I've been to a few of Andrew Greenwood's car shows in cheshire and north wales. (Boddlewyden castle and 2 at capesthorne hall).

I've been to these shows with my father in law in his 74 Opel Ascona and I've found the shows very enjoyable.

now the reason I'm mentioning this is that I haven't seen any cars off this forum (or not known they were members of the forum) at any of the above mentioned shows.....is there a reason for this?

I am thinking of taking the Alvis to one or two shows next year and was wondering whether to take it to these shows or are there any others that forum members go to in cheshire?

It would be great to meet some of you

You'll find the Riley Motor Club at the Manchester, Tatton Park, Oulton Park and Grasmere shows. As a club we tend to do more driving events, days out or 'drive and dine' evening runs, though individual members do take their cars to local shows. I don't think any, other then myself, are on this forum and I'm in Derbyshire - I have been known to travel as far as Cheshire though Wink

I've not been to Capesthorne for ages, but Greenwood runs two events at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire which we go to - the next being in a week's time, 2nd Sept, MikeEdwards usually attends that one also.

The show and short procession held every year in Audlem is a neat village event to book in for, if you fancy a show down here. There's also Astle Park in Chelford, the Oulton Park Gold Cup (just gone), Kelsall (a good one), Tatton twice a year (as Buzzy mentioned, but book early), and lots of local smaller events around and about.

You'd have seen me at Bodelwyddan Castle, but not necessarily known it, also have been at Oulton Park (Gold Cup and Classic Car Show), Tatton Park, Cholmondeley Castle (and will be again next weekend), Nantwich Festival of Transport, and some others. Might also do Arley Hall as Andrew was giving out passes at Bodelwyddan.

Is this your F-i-L's car then Jason? This was at Tatton Park in August. It looks very clean indeed - has he had it long? There was one for sale in Nantwich a couple of years back.

we'll have to arrange to have a forum get together at one of these shows next year Wink

edit....
he hasn't had it very long, he got it from an auction in north yorkshire in July 2011.

I've got a busy time now with local shows - Tatton this weekend, Elephant the Sunday after, then the Pageant of Power the weekend after that. I hope the weather isn't too terrible, though it's not looking good for this weekend.

I had wondered about Tatton as I've not been in years, but there's also a vintage show down nr Shrewsbury that I've not been to before, so that might win out. Are you having a club stand at Tatton, PoP etc?

Yes, I'm on the Droopsnoot Group (DSG) stand at Tatton, though the SCCCC have a stand for the first time in many years, and on the SCCCC stand at CPOP.

The trouble with being in more than one club is deciding which to go on if they both do the same events, but that doesn't happen so often.

Guess so! I'll no doubt bump into you at the Elephant, and probably at CPOP too.

I went for a wander around outside the show for the first time in ages, it's a big place.

Avenue of Beech trees

Grebes, apparently
