Introducing myself as a 75 yo retiree, who has purchased a 1958 Series IIA Rapier convertible. Have previously owned various models of Rootes Group cars since the early 1960's. Last one was a Sunbeam Rapier "fast-back" I think an early 1960's model.
I believe this one I have now is only one of five in Australia. In the process of getting it ready for a roadworthy certificate.
The model shown on the paperwork gives model as RAP64A with a VIN of 13800934RCO and engine # B043904551.
Maybe someone can identify for me from these numbers, would appreciate greatly.
Will post photos once I get vehicle out of the garage!
Look forward to reading inputs to this forum.
Neville

Not sure if this correct but here goes anyway. Photos taken today after car has been washed. Nearly all the niggles have been cured, fuel gauge reads correctly, speedo works and new seal on fuel tank cap so that when parked on sloping drive (see photo's) fuel doesn't pour out over the chrome and paint. Seat belts next project (one feels naked driving without them). Reversing polarity on back-burner, problem with battery terminals being too close to carburetor.

Too hot here to have top down, Brisbane winter about same as English summer only dry (no rain) and I will have the top down then. Have photos of it with top down and will post shortly.

Very Happy OK so photo's are now displaying correctly. I think I needed to logout of Photobucket to make them show correctly.

Hi
The aussie one is a MkII you have yours down as a Mk IV, according to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunbeam_Rapier the change was on the Mk III
Another difference is seen in the double chrome strip on the aussie and a single on yours.

NEWTONS FIRST LAW of MECHANICAL REPAIR
Once your hands become covered in grease, your nose will itch and you'll have to pee.
